Name: Bangor Employment Law - Lunch & Learn "As Leaves Are Changing, Are You Keeping Up? "
Date: October 15, 2026
Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

As leave requirements change, Maine employers are facing new questions around employee absence and accommodation issues. A single medical situation can involve multiple overlapping obligations under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Workers’ Compensation, and various employer-provided leave policies.

Join Anne-Marie Storey at Husson University in Bangor for “As Leaves Are Changing, Are You Keeping Up?” This informative lunch and learn will be focused on bringing these overlapping requirements together and helping employers respond to leave requests with confidence.

What You’ll Learn:

This session will address the evolving legal landscape surrounding:

  • FMLA and PFML requirements
  • ADA accommodation obligations
  • Workers’ Compensation considerations
  • The interaction of EPL, PTO, vacation, and sick time
  • Managing complex and overlapping leave requests
  • Common questions and real-world hypotheticals involving employee absences

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and work through hypothetical scenarios designed to clarify, as much as possible, the complexities that can arise when multiple leave and accommodation obligations apply at once.
