Aislinn Sarnacki is the editor of Act Out, a section of the BDN that features stories, videos and other content about a wide variety of outdoor activities, nature and conservation. She produces a weekly column about hiking trails and other outdoor destinations throughout Maine, and has authored three hiking guidebooks: “Family-Friendly Hikes in Maine” (2017), “Maine Hikes off the Beaten Path” (2018) and “Dog-Friendly Hikes in Maine” (2019).

After retiring from a successful career in radio, Bob Duchesne won a seat in the Maine House of Representatives, where he served six terms. His outdoor experiences led to assignments chairing the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Committee. He currently serves on the state Board of Environmental Protection and IFW’s Wildlife Advisory Council, where he currently serves. Bob has been a Maine Audubon leader for over 30 years, and in 2004, he started a bird guiding company, leading tours throughout Maine. In 2012, he began writing Outdoor columns for the Bangor Daily News and Bangor Metro.

John Holyoke has worked for the BDN since 1993, and for the last 18 years he has covered the Maine outdoors as a columnist, feature writer and outdoor editor. He grew up in Brewer, graduated from the University of Maine, and enjoys hunting, fishing and reading. His first book, "Evergreens," which was released in October, is a collection of BDN columns and features.
