Jun 3 Back on the Trail: A Workshop for Those Done Saying NO Because of Knee Pain
If knee pain has started running your social calendar — what you'll do, what you'll skip, how far you'll walk before you start regretting it — this workshop is for you.
You may have already done all the things. Physical therapy. Chiropractic care. Injections. Anti-inflammatories. Maybe some of it helped for a while, and then the pain came back. Maybe none of it worked at all. Either way, you're left wondering if hiking, walking long distances, or simply moving without a second thought is something other people get to do — but not you.
It doesn't have to stay that way.
Knee pain is incredibly common. It is also widely misunderstood. Aging gets blamed for a lot of what we feel in our joints, but your body is communicating something real — about inflammation, about how it moves, about what it needs in order to heal — and most approaches never get past silencing the conversation.
This workshop is about listening to it.
I'm inviting Dr. Cameron Puls from Premier Rehab and Training to take a fuller look at what's actually behind persistent knee pain — the movement piece, the rehab piece, and the root-cause health piece. Together, we'll cover:
* Why knee pain going downhill, on stairs, and after activity is a signal worth paying attention to
* What actually drives joint pain at the cellular level, and why managing inflammation is non-negotiable
* The difference between pushing through pain and building real, lasting recovery
* How to tell whether your current approach is helping you heal or just helping you cope
* Practical, body-first strategies you can put to work right away
Every attendee will leave with a free guide from Dr. Puls — a tool you can use on your own to keep moving forward after the workshop ends.
This is for the person who is tired of pretending they're fine. Who used to be active and wants to be again. Who has been told their knees are "just getting older" and is no longer willing to accept that as the whole story.

This event marks the beginning of our golf calendar for the year and serves as a wonderful opportunity to support the Chamber programs and activities that foster and enhance a thriving and dynamic business environment in our region. Not only will you enjoy a fantastic round of golf at Hermon Meadow Golf Club, but you will also have the chance to participate in exciting hole challenges and win some incredible prizes!

What you can expect:
  • Scramble format - teams of 4. 
  • Course opens at 7:00 AM. Light breakfast/coffee will be served by Chik-fil-A. Shotgun start at 8:00 AM. 
  • Goodie bag, water, scorecard and program will be on your carts when you arrive.
  • REMINDER: No outside alcohol is permitted on the course or in the pro shop. The bar inside the pro shop will be open for purchases throughout the entire day. 
  • Enjoy an afternoon lunch after the tournament. Refreshments will be located around the course.
  • If you are in need of assistance throughout the day, volunteers will be around to help answer any questions.
The patio will be open for refreshments after the scramble as results are determined. Results will be announced, so make sure to stick around to enjoy some lunch after while you wait. Prizes that are not claimed will be held at the Chamber office for pick-up.

Jun 6 Guided Birding Walk at Frenchman Bay's Conservancy's Jordan River Preserve
With many resident bird species defending territories and looking for mates, June is a great time to meet Maine’s resident avifauna. Birding by sight and by ear, this program is accessible for beginners but provides learning opportunities for the more experienced birder as well. Maine Audubon naturalists and special guests will lead monthly walks at Frenchman Bay Conservancy’s Jordan River Preserve in Trenton. The Jordan River Preserve protects 186 acres with more than a mile of shoreline, valuable tidal salt marshes, and nesting habitat for many bird species including Bobolinks and Cliff Swallows. The property includes open fields, forested areas, and tidal mud flats.

Jun 16 Maine PR Council — Golden Arrow Awards Reception

Join us in recognizing Maine’s most impactful public relations, communications, and marketing work from 2025 at this year’s Golden Arrow Awards, presented by the Maine Public Relations Council. This annual event highlights the campaigns, strategies, and results that are shaping our field across the state.

The ceremony will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Harraseeket Inn (Merry Meeting Room), located at 162 Main Street in Freeport, with registration and networking beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Whether you’re being recognized or celebrating your peers, the Golden Arrows are a chance to come together as a community and reflect on the work that moved Maine forward this past year. Jun 20 Artist Series #1: Anthotypes – Explore the Darkroom in Your Garden
Inspired by Malin Fabbri’s book of the same name, this workshop introduces you to the natural cousin of the cyanotype: the anthotype, a beautifully simple 19th-century process of creating images using plant dye and the power of the sun. Capture the ephemeral charm of native plants through this form of alternative photography, which takes advantage of the fragility of plant pigments under strong sunlight to create colorful impressions of foliage and flowers. What better time to try it than during the longest and sunniest days of the year? We’ll explore the science behind plant pigmentation, become better acquainted with the ecologically vital species used in our artworks, and each participant will take home their original anthotype print plus a second canvas prepared for a future print. Appropriate for adults and children ages 8 and older. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
