Position located at Mercy Hospital, Portland ME employed by Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center
 
 

Monitors and participates in the preventive maintenance, electrical safety and equipment repair programs for basic and/or specialty medical equipment. Maintains preventative maintenance records on all equipment included in the program. May performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JACHO, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. May help in projects as assigned and may assist in the day-to-day operation of the clinical engineering department.

Qualifications

Minimum education required: Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or related field or 2 years post high school technical training or equivalent.

Minimum experience required: Typically greater than 2 years of experience of medical equipment repair and maintenance.

Other skills required: Demonstrated ability to implement, document and accurately perform inspections and repair of basic medical equipment. Demonstrated ability to provide a supporting role in projects requiring multi-disciplinary teams. Good verbal and written communication. Good organizational and computer skills. General knowledge of tools and test equipment. Demonstrated ability to work well with administrators, physicians, nurses and other medical equipment users, in a customer service setting. Moderate knowledge of clinical practice and medical terminology. General knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology. General knowledge of applicable standards and regulations concerning medical equipment.

Physical requirements: Mostly light to medium, occasionally heavy work. Requires extensive walking throughout the medical center. Work requires fingering and grasping. Some lifting, pushing, and pulling. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching and working in a prone position. Occasional climbing and reaching. Requires ability to hear and talk. Requires visual range from arm's length to close to the eyes. Requires color perception.

Working environment: Inside working conditions. May have exposure to hazards such as but not limited to: electrical current, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, gases, infectious materials, hot pipes, high noise levels, and ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
