The Health Information Services Associate is responsible for timely and efficient processing of patient/health information including, but not limited to, customer service (reception), chart completion analysis, retrieving/filing/posting/processing of reports and records, chart location, and assisting physician with patient record completion. Individual may be required to sit for long periods of time, bending frequently, reaching, stopping to grasp and obtain papers and files frequently during the day. Individual will walk frequently (may include climbing flights of stairs) and stand to file and retrieve charts frequently. Also required are phone-utilization for up to 2 hours per day, visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist action repetitive motion, and utilization of a computer/keyboard. Individual will be working in a crowded environment, well-lighted, central air conditioning, and central heat. There will be a high noise level due to multiple phones and conversation, with an extremely busy and high traffic area.

Qualifications

Must have an Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or a high school diploma plus at least 4 years of equivalent experience. Medical Terminology required. At least two years of prior experience in medical secretarial work or Health Information Services experience desirable. Must be able to operate PC's in an office environment. Verbal aptitude for adequate communication with physician, Health Information staff and other health care professionals is a must. The Health Information Services Associate must maintain a pleasant and positive attitude when serving customers. Must have a demonstrated ability to work well with others.
