Job Description
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to administer physical therapy treatments. The PTA assists patients in improving mobility, strength, and functionality by implementing prescribed treatment plans and modalities, ensuring high-quality care and positive outcomes. The PTA is also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and providing support to the healthcare team to enhance patient care and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer patient care in accordance with established protocols and patient care guidelines, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Demonstrate conduct aligned with FYZICAL’s core values and the social contract in all patient interactions and clinical tasks.
  • Document all patient interactions, including daily notes, progress reports, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure timely treatment delivery, maintaining a focus on patient appointment adherence with a goal of achieving a 90% appointment kept rate.
  • Educate patients on the importance of following their treatment plans, including adherence to home exercise programs and minimizing cancellations or no-shows.
  • Administer various therapeutic interventions, such as manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hot/cold packs.
  • Conduct traction treatments to relieve neck and back pain.
  • Assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as ambulation, transfers, and daily living tasks.
  • Observe patient responses during treatment, and report progress and concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Fit and adjust orthopedic braces, prostheses, and assistive devices (e.g., crutches, canes, walkers), providing guidance on their use and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the therapy team and other healthcare professionals to discuss, plan, and adjust patient care plans.
  • Provide orientation to new PTAs and supervise, instruct, and guide Rehab Techs as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, including inventory management, ordering supplies, answering phone calls, and completing necessary forms.
  • Measure range-of-joint motion, vital signs, and body part measurements to assess treatment effects and assist the Physical Therapist with evaluations.
  • Monitor treatment progress administered by Rehab Techs to ensure quality care.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
