Assist pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution while ensuring a high degree of quality and accuracy during daily tasks. Pharmacy Technicians communicate with co-workers and other staff members of EMMC including RNs, CNAs, PharmDs, etc. to ensure correct and timely distribution to patients. Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for refilling Talyst and Pyxis machines, preparing medications for distribution and delivering medications to patient care areas. Pharmacy Technicians are expected to attend employee updates, staff meetings, and be up to date on hospital policies and procedures. Additional duties and responsibilities may include participating in training of employee and quality assurance checks.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician through the State of Maine before employment: Department of Professional and Financial Regulation – Board of Pharmacy, Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) licensure from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within first 15 months of hire
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Successful candidates will have had prior pharmacy experience, healthcare experience or have been enrolled in courses pertaining to the healthcare field (Medical Terminology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical School Prerequisites, etc.)
