About
A family-owned business now in its fourth generation of ownership, the BDN has produced Maine’s newspaper of record, Bangor Daily News, for more than 125 years.
The Bangor Daily News was stablished in 1889 by J. Norman Towle, the great-grandfather of the current publisher, Richard J. Warren. From the Great Fire of 1911, through the Great Depression, through the heyday of print, and the rise of digital, the BDN has persevered. Carolyn J. Mowers, sister of the publisher, serves as chairman of the board.
The company continues to serve its readers and its advertisers with products such as bangordailynews.com, Bangor Metro Magazine, and Pulse Marketing. Our weekly geographically targeted publications include the St. John Valley Times, Aroostook Republican, Houlton Pioneer Times, The Star-Herald, Piscataquis Observer, The Penobscot Times, TheCounty.me, and. FiddleheadFocus.com.
