Beal Driving Academy Steps-Up To Help Displaced Driving School Students

Bangor, ME - Beal Driving Academy has been educating Maine driving students since 1973, recently stepped-up to help a number of area driving school students who were displaced after their driving school closed.

Beal Driving Academy’s COO Steve Villett shares that “We heard the news and called the state to ask if there was anything we can do to help take care of the students that were in driving education classes that were canceled when the driving school closed.” We were informed that there were numerous students and employees affected in various towns across Penobscot county. “So I said, let’s see what we can do!”

Mr. Villett went on to say that “This was certainly a challenge for us and a good test of our capacity to be nimble and respond to our community’s needs quickly. It’s important to us to support the educational needs of Maine, and we’re always open to discussions and problem-solving with other agencies or companies, regarding the specific educational needs in their business environment.”

Mr. Villett and Executive Director Felicia Baron-Lizotte were able to operationalize around the state’s need.  Beal Driving Academy’s classrooms in Bangor are located on Beal College’s campus at 99 Farm Road. Within 3 weeks they opened new classrooms in Ellsworth and Skowhegan and were able to extend employment offers to several of the displaced employees from the driving school as well.  All in all, Beal Driving Academy was able to take on the additional students and hire the unemployed drivers’ education instructors to fill the void in the affected communities in an efficient and expedient manner.
