Sutherland Weston Earns Four National Awards for Video Production

Telly Awards honor video and television made for all screens

BANGOR, ME – Sutherland Weston has learned that the Bangor-based marketing and communications firm has earned four national Telly Awards for video production. Sutherland Weston joins an impressive list of winners for the 2020 awards, including CBS, Sony Music Entertainment, Sesame Workshop, and Conde Nast.

“Our A/V team does amazing work,” said Elizabeth Sutherland, partner at Sutherland Weston. “It is work that is seen all over in TV commercials, at large events, through community efforts, and with internal videos for businesses and organizations. Sutherland Weston is proud of this team, and their ability to use creativity to express why Maine is such a special place.”

The Telly Awards are given in three levels: gold, silver, and bronze. Each entry is scored against itself, so there might be several award winners in certain categories, or there might be none.  Sutherland Weston was awarded three silver Telly Awards and one bronze.

“I’ve always believed our team can compete with anyone in the country,” said Cary Weston, partner at Sutherland Weston. “I am happy that the judges with the Telly Awards feel the same way.”

In the category of “Social Video Series-Comedy,” Sutherland Weston received a silver award for a video produced for C&L Aviation Group; in the category of “Local TV General - Schools / Colleges / Universities,” Sutherland Weston received a silver award for a video produced for the University of Maine Augusta; in the category of of “Non Broadcast General - Government Relations,” Sutherland Weston received a silver award for a video called “City of Bangor: Best of All Words;” and in the category of Social Video Series - Media & Entertainment, Sutherland Weston received a bronze award for a video produced for the agency.

“They bring our ideas to life on the screen,” said Chris Kilgour, CEO at C&L Aviation Group. “Their creativity helps to keep us top of mind with business prospects.”

“Beyond the actual finished videos, UMA was impressed with SWMC’s process to take a creative idea and develop that into a polished and distinctive product,” said Brent Wooten, Director of Enrollment Marketing at UMA. “They were also just fun to work with.”

“This region has a high level of quality in our own backyard”, ,” said Cathy Conlow, City Manager for the City of Bangor. “We are thrilled to hear that this video series for The City of Bangor is now a winner of a national award. We have loved it since the day we first saw it, and it’s generated lots of great feedback and conversation for the city.”
