Job Description
The Inpatient Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for patient care and provides a vital link between the administrative strategic plan and the point of care. This position is responsible for oversight of the delivery of high-quality patient care, ensure staff development, and manage the daily operations of the inpatient psychiatric units (pediatric and adults). This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
The Nurse Manager will create and lead an environment of patient-centered care (therapeutic milieu and program) for inpatient acute care units; defining with senior leadership standards for quality and safe patient care; managing and developing work-based teams and schedules for assigned shifts; training new staff; and being accountable for operational outcomes, to include but not limited to quality, safety, therapeutic program effectiveness, medication effectiveness, patient care treatment plans, financial budgets, and staff performance. The successful candidate will report to the VP of Nursing and assist in administrative and clinical supervision; as well as be the hiring manager for direct reports.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate, nursing staff (RNs), psychiatric technicians (PTs), and inpatient coordinators (ICs).
  • Schedule and allocate resources to ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth among staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care in alignments with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Monitor Interdisciplinary treatment plans (IDTPs) interventions, and outcomes to maintain quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, therapist, and licensed independent practitioners (LIPs) to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the inpatient psychiatric units, including workflows, policies, and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and address environmental and patient safety concerns.
  • Manage budgets, supplies, and equipment effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulation, including Joint Commission standards and HIPAA.
  • Monitor and address quality metrics, incident reporting, and risk management initiatives.
  • Coordinate onboarding and training for new hires, ensuring competency in psychiatric care.
  • Provide ongoing education for staff on topics such as crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and trauma informed care.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for nursing professional development.
