Job Description

Sign on bonus: This position is eligible for a $4,000 sign on bonus for uncertified/new graduate surgical techs or $7,000 for certified surgical techs with two or more years of experience (with work commitment).

*Current employees of any Northern Light Member Organizations or those with a service break less than one year are not eligible.

Summary:

 

Assists in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.

 

Responsibilities:

• Maintains sterile operative fields. • Maintains inventory of medical supplies or equipment. • Assists healthcare practitioners during surgery. • Positions patients for treatment or examination. • Protect patients or staff members using safety equipment. • Orients new staff to unit and specific specialty. • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. • May perform other duties upon request.

Other Information:

Certification required or LPN with surgical tech experience. BLS certification is to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and is to be kept current.

Education and Experience
Surgical Technologist I
Certification required within one year of hire.
BLS certification is to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and is to be kept current.
Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Technician Program, or other approved technical program (i.e. military training). 
0 years' experience.

Surgical Technologist II
Certification required or LPN with surgical tech experience.
BLS certification is to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and is to be kept current.
Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Technician Program, or other approved technical program (i.e. military training). 
Minimum of 3 years' experience.

Surgical Technologist III
Certification required or LPN with surgical tech experience.
BLS certification is to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and is to be kept current.
Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Technician Program, or other approved technical program (i.e. military training). 
Minimum of 5 years' experience.
